In February of 2005, our seven year old daughter Victoria was diagnosed with aplastic anemia.  This is a condition in which the body shuts down and doesn't make blood cells or marrow. Victoria had never been sick in her life so we were quite shocked to be dealing with this. After 18 months and two courses of treatment that tried to trick her body into restarting, the doctors decided a bone marrow transplant was her only hope for survival. Again, we couldn't believe we were going through this, but put our trust in God and had so many people praying for us. We had to realize that Victoria was God's child before she was ours and He loved her more than we ever could. We packed our bags planning on being away from home for over one hundred days to undergo this process that requires very toxic chemotherapy and radiation. The recovery process is long and can be very dangerous.  We spent the first 10 days going through tons of tests  to prepare Victoria and the doctors for the transplant.  Less than 48 hours before they were to take Victoria to surgery to have a central line put in for chemo, the doctors told us we needed to sit down.  They said her marrow was normal. After calling colleagues all over the country to see if they could explain this, the doctor concluded that this was a spontaneous recovery. We call that a miracle! They went on to run several tests to rule out any possible underlying causes, but all were negative. Victoria is fantastic and was positive throughout this entire journey.  She told me she has never had a bad day and doesn't plan to ever have one. She spent over 100 nights in the hospital last year and met numerous sick kids.  We will be driving down the road and she'll tell me we need to pray for them. She has been an example to all of us.   Although her marrow is normal her blood counts are still lower than normal but climbing.  Please pray for her contimued healing and know that we arel praying for all of you too.  God is faithful and good!
