Great Christmas Give-away

Getting ready

Many of us take Christmas gifts for granted and we often forget that there are still economically disadvantaged families among us who simply cannot afford the extra expense of a simple gift for their child or spouse.

To address these shortcomings, the Children's Miracle Ministry, supported by "the neighbor next door", partly purchased and collected over 15,000 pieces of toys, shoes  and household items. Volunteers then packed these items into gift boxes.

On Christmas Eve, the Children's Miracle Ministry, in conjunction with Universal Tours Inc, invited on live radio anyone in need of gifts to stop by at 1708 North Jackson Road in Pharr, Texas and pick up their gift, free of charge - about three hours later all gifts had been distributed. At one point the owner of the radio station - when he found out that we had depleted our toys - donated several boxes of toys himself, to assure that every family with child that showed up got an appropriate gift.

We want to thank all our donors and volunteers, especially PARADISE BEACHWEAR of South Padre Island, represented by it's manager, Mr. Avner and by Mr. Jack HAZIZA (owner) for donating 800 pair of sandals and shoes, Mr. and Mrs. Scott from San Antonio, who donated to us part of their store inventory, the local business community, employees of various companies, radio station 99.5 and its owner; Mr. and Mrs. Jim and Kathy Maples and their children Jennifer, Cameron and Ashley; Mr. Salvador Avalos (Santa) and Miss Rosie Hernandez of San Juan.

Thank you,

Rev. Manfred K Wallner
